Must Visit Bookstores
Today I stumbled over an intriguing BuzzFeed list that I actually found quite worthwhile: 17 Bookstores That Will Literally Change Your Life. Now, while I can’t attest as to whether or not this list will literally change your life, it will sweep you away to some very charming, inviting, nooks that beckon bookworms.
Here are the two that caught my attention:
I’ll confess that Santorini is on my personal travel bucket list, so I’m sure that has a lot to do with the appeal of Atlantis Books. BuzzFeed says one’s entrance into this book store is much like emergence into a cave. And apparently, there are notes and messages written all over the walls—review and commentary graffiti! I want to sun on those alabaster steps while reading Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Come on, you know you’ve read it—or watched the movie!
And in full disclosure, England has a very special piece of my heart; therefore, I know that is exactly why Word on the Water caught my eye. According to Buzzfeed, readers can board the barge to browse its selection and venture to the roof for poetry readings and live music. I could make a day and evening of it! Here, I’d succumb to the hypnotic sway of the water and seek an original (or at least really old) copy of Alice in Wonderland, perhaps sent over to the floating retailer from an “Once Upon a Time” enthusiast of Lewis Carroll (you know, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) in Oxford.
Here at home, my favorite place to curl up with a good book is rather boring—the couch, with a soft chamois throw, fire ablaze, warm coffee in hand. But, oh how I love being boring—it means I get to lose myself in pages.
Which of these 17 bookstores appeal to you? Or is there somewhere else you fancy?
